Christmas, 2009

This was Christmas at our house. There’s daughter Lizzie; son Corbett (in the glasses), husband Champ (looking serious, as usual); Lizzie’s boyfriend John (in the orange baseball cap); me wearing an apron that Lizzie got me; and Corbett’s good friend Kush (in the striped sweater).

The photo on the top right corner deserves explanation. A friend knitted Corbett a pair of brown socks, (you can just see the tip of his toe on the left) which Champ is inspecting very closely.

Farther down, Corbett and Champ are holding antique paintings they found at an art shop. One is of a lighthouse, which reminded them of their car trip out to Stanford, via Oregon, this summer to deposit Corbett at grad school.

The only person missing is Lindsey, Corbett’s girlfriend. She was at home with her family.

As for the hungry poodles, Isabel has a new bone which she seems to be praying over (For what I am about to chew to pieces, may the Lord make me truly thankful); and Lulu has been rummaging through the presents and has tape stuck to her nose!

And finally, in honor of our dear British friends, Brian and Christine, we had Christmas crackers this year. (It’s a tradition in the UK.) You pop them open and wear the paper crown that’s inside. This will become an American tradition as well.
