Eletelephony

I asked my friend Kaye* what her favorite poem was and without hesitation she recited this perfectly. OK, so it’s not Shakespeare, but what a relief that is! Imagine trying to get Lulu up onto a balcony wearing a dress!

Being a 21st century elephoodle with a cordless phone, Lulu doesn’t have to worry about getting tangled in the telephunk like in the olden days. But she has other challenges: how’s a girl to keep her nose powdered?

Eletelephony
by Laura E. Richards

Once there was an elephant,
Who tried to use the telephant-
No! No! I mean an elephone
Who tried to use the telephone-
(Dear me! I am not certain quite
That even now I’ve got it right.)

Howe’er it was, he got his trunk
Entangled in the telephunk;
The more he tried to get it free,
The louder buzzed the telephee-
(I fear I’d better drop the song
Of elephop and telephong!)

*Kaye majored in English Literature in college and even studied in England. Hers is not an intellect to be trifled with!

    What a doll that Lulu is! If we tried anything like that with our brat cat, we’d come out of the altercation bruised and bloody!

    I can’t believe you got her to wear that!! Too funny. Did you have to stick a doggie treat in the trunk???
