Energy

by Anne Bennett on June 2, 2011

I missed Oprah’s last show, but I read about it on her web site afterwards. Apparently, it was a very moving hour in which Oprah spoke of the “yellow brick road of blessings” that she has received during 25 years of The Oprah Show.

She said that when her show had been airing for only a short time, a woman wrote to her, “Oprah, watching you be yourself makes me want to be more of myself.”

You know, I have to admit, I think Oprah inspired me to bring out a little more of the real Anne. Hoo–ahhh! Anne the hoyden!

One of my favorite shows was with guest Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. She’s the brain scientist who, at 37 years of age, suffered a massive stroke and lived to write a book about it afterwards. (Who better to write about the effects of a brain hemorrhage than a brain scientist?)

At first Dr. Taylor couldn’t even speak or recognize loved ones, but the undamaged side of her brain was able to pick up on the energy of the doctors and nurses who entered her room to help her. She said she knew who was on her side and that positive energy helped her to recover.

After appearing on the show she sent the following sign to Oprah, “Please take responsibility for the energy you bring into this space.”

Profundity can emanate from the most mundane places, even daytime TV shows.

I’m going to hang this quote on my bathroom mirror and read it every morning before I put on my makeup with the hope that it will remind me to muster only positive energy each day.

My poodles know that I’m a curmudgeonly sort. I’m inclined to slip in a negative electron every now or then, but since we’re all emitting energy all of the time anyway, why not┬áput out a positive charge rather than a negative one?

I LOVE THIS!!!! This is one of the main reasons I’m single again. My ex was sooo soo negative it was almost physically draining trying to refute his negativity all the time. Good reminder for me to keep it positive!!! Thanks Anne! See you tomorrow!

Anne, That was one of the most powerful shows that I watched, too. Really fascinating.
