Happy Thanksgiving 2013

Today is Turkey Day in the U.S., the quintessential day of giving thanks and, most importantly, of feasting. I’m in charge of the turkey, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce and salad (yes, salad, which I am dubbing a “palate cleanser” lest anyone thinks I’m trying to be calorically frugal…)

To each and every one of you, I wish a very Happy Thanksgiving. This year I am thankful for my family, my friends, my hungry poodles, and all of the wonderful people I have met at Weight Watchers meetings in 2013. I sincerely hope that our friendship continues in the New Year and that we are all successful in our quest to live healthier, more balanced lives.

Speaking of balance, what choices will you make at today’s meal? Try to choose only the dishes that you really love and leave behind the ones that don’t call your name. Who needs them? If you leave the table feeling comfortably full, you’ll be happier and less guilty in the long run.

Think of it this way –today the turkey is the only thing that should be stuffed.

I hope you enjoyed your holiday with family and friends. Thank you for the Cosmo Cranberries dish, my family loved it! We have never enjoyed a cranberry to date…but can’t get enough of this wonderful blend of delightful flavors. Because I was nervous that the cranberries would stand lonely in the dish that no one dared touch, I added mandarin oranges and pineapple tidbits to entice my family. Everyone took a sizeable portion, and some even ventured back for seconds! Again, thank you for our new favorite dish…and for all the new flavors you guide us toward during the year.
