Whitman, I’m sorry you’re being so “Bah, Humbug” about the new Hungry Poodle logo. This is, after all, a blog about healthy living. You’ve just got to learn to love green things other than your froggy toy.
Human friends, welcome to the new, updated Hungry Poodle. Ignore Whitman. He’s just sore that I didn’t fill the poodle logo up with doggie treats.
Recently I’ve posted four soup/chili recipes in a row. Why, you ask? Because it’s December, the month of fruitcake, cookies, sugar plums and all things Christmas, which means all things fattening!
Soup can be a life-saver during these rich times–it’s filling, full of vegetables and low in calories, fat and WW points. Below is a list of soups, chilis and stews that can help get you through the season without doing too much damage to the waistline. The first two soups are very low in calories/points and are good choices for pre-party meals or snacks. Have a cupful before heading out and you won’t be so tempted by the buffet table. That’s actually true–people who have soup before dinner eat less at the main meal.
There are also some slow cooker recipes that you can make when you’re pressed for time. Again, Hungry Poodle to the rescue!
Click on any of the links below to see the recipe. And remember, this is a joyous season. Have fun with your family, friends and, yes, your food!
