Make Your Fridge WW Friendly

by Anne Bennett on June 1, 2016

“No, Honey, I said to put the strudel in the refrigerator!”

The topic at this week’s Weight Watcher meetings nationwide is how to reorganize our refrigerators to help us make healthier cooking and snacking choices.

Think about it — we eat what we see, thus when we stuff fresh fruits and vegetables way down in the crisper drawers, it becomes a matter of out-of-sight, out-of-mind. What’s the solution? Take a moment to wash and cut up veggies when you get them home from the supermarket, put them in a clear bowl and place them on the middle shelf where they’re the first thing you see when you open the door.

The same goes with apples. Don’t relegate them to the abyss below. Put them in a clear container and set them front and center. That way you’re much more likely to grab a crispy apple when you need a snack.

Healthy eating doesn’t take work. It takes ingenuity.

That, and a hungry poodle.

In recent years, it seems to me that WW has gotten away from reminding members to take the time to prepare a week’s worth of raw vegetables, then putting them in a prominent place in the refrigerator.

Thanks for the reminder!
