I don’t know about you, but I was gobsmacked when I heard the news last Monday that Oprah had joined Weight Watchers. I work for Weight Watchers, thus the announcement was as much of a surprise to the thousands of WW employees in the field as it was to the general public. Oprah signed on not just as a member but also as a part-owner of the company (she purchased 10% of WW stock) and as a member of the corporate board where she will act as an advisor. As I said, downright gobsmacked.
It’s not news that Oprah has struggled with her weight most of her life. Over the years she has made her struggles known to the millions of viewers of her legendary TV show; she explained her decision to join Weight Watchers on the Ellen Show this week:
