To Live in Kansas City

by Anne Bennett on October 28, 2014

Tonight is the 6th game of the World Series and the first time the Kansas City Royals have been this close to preeminence in 29 years.

I may be going out on a limb here, but to me it doesn’t really matter if they beat the San Francisco Giants.

I’m originally from Northern California and by birthright I should be rooting for the Giants. But I’ve lived in Kansas City for more than 30 years, and not only has it become my home, I have come to love this city with a wholeheartedness that is nearly goofy.

Speaking of goofy, can you think of another city whose symphony would don baseball shirts and perform a sentimental sports song?  I can’t. Truly I can’t. To my mind it could only happen in Kansas City.

Bottom line, if the Royals win or lose the World Series, they are already winners because they hail from one of the most loveable cities on earth. Go Royals!

Anne,
Your thoughtful and heartfelt words have pushed me into the Kansas City camp. Go Royals! And this from a northern California resident.

Go Royals! I may be their newest fan, and I haven’t even moved yet! Looking forward to leaving southern California behind very shortly and embracing all that Kansas City has to offer.
