Where Do Baby Carrots Come From?

by Anne Bennett on March 18, 2014

hungry poodle sabrina staires 2724For some of us, the following news is akin to revealing that there’s no Santa Claus, but — are you ready for this? — “baby carrots” really aren’t babies.

Watch the video, which is clearly a public relations ploy from the carrot industry. Alas, a veggie with no shame.

Lulu has her own baby carrot and it has a happy face. It occurs to me that Lulu is very much like her smiling baby carrot — she looks one way (sweet and innocent) but I wouldn’t try to take the carrot from her if I were you, not if you value your hand.

Now that carrots have been outed, I suppose they’re going to tell us there’s no Easter Bunny. Sigh, where will it all end?

A rumor has been going around that baby carrots are soaked in bleach during processing. I don’t know if that is true, but it is probably why the carrot industry is pushing this video. Here is what snopes.com says: http://www.snopes.com/food/tainted/carrots.asp
