hungry poodle

This is a poem in a little book titled, “Unleashed: Poems by Writer’s Dogs”. It was written by Karen Shephard’s dog, Birch, but it easily could have been written by Isabel, the hungry poodle shown below. Isabel cannot see because she has cataracts, but she has the nose of a bloodhound and no food escapes her notice. If you leave it on the counter and turn your back for an instant, it’s gone!

I’ll eat that.”
