Beneath the Christmas Tree

by Anne Bennett on December 19, 2012

This is Riley. He belongs to our friends Brad and Steve, and he just became a big brother to an 8-week-old Mastiff puppy named Maggie. From the look on his face, he’s pretty happy.

Last night Champ and I met the newest member of the family, and at one point during the evening she disappeared. We looked everywhere, upstairs and downstairs, beneath the dining room table, behind the couch, but no Maggie. Finally, Steve found her here:

She had curled up beneath the Christmas tree and fallen sound asleep! Here’s a closer look:

Lest you wonder how big Maggie will eventually grow, check out those paws. I’m thinking close to 100 pounds, or roughly twice the weight of my big poodles.

Can you think of any gift beneath the Christmas tree that’s better than a puppy? I can’t.

Darling picture. Maggie looks like a Shar-Pei? Are you sure she is a Mastiff?

Love the puppy pictures! Nothing sweeter than a sleeping puppy.
